Tube Settlers

The Monroe Tube Settler is ideally suited for municipal potable water or wastewater treatment plants, as well as industrial applications. Similar to parallel plate modules, the tubes provide a series of inclined surfaces for suspended particles to rapidly collect and settle upon while the clarified effluent flows out of the tank and on to the next stage of the treatment process. When the collected particles become heavy enough, they fall from the tube modules and descend to the bottom of the sedimentation basin.

PVC Tube Settler Modules

Monroe Tube Settler modules are typically 2 feet in vertical height. The tubes are somewhat triangular in shape with each tube having a cross sectional perimeter of about 10 inches. This design allows particles to settle more rapidly by achieving laminar flow and decreasing the distance a particle needs to travel before it is considered a settled particle. Instead of traveling several feet to the bottom of the tank, it now must only travel a few inches or less. This rapid settling effect maximizes the effective surface area for settling, thereby minimizing clarifier footprint. An increase in water treatment plant flow rate is also enabled by tube settlers.

Monroe Tube Settler ModuleTube settler modules can also be integrated into existing circular or rectangular clarifier designs to provide increased efficiency. Retrofitting an existing clarifier with tube settlers is often the preferred, lower-cost option versus installing a brand new clarifier. Monroe can provide adjustable overflow weirs in a variety of materials and configurations, as well as Monroe Sludge Collection System for efficient, low maintenance solids removal.

Patent-Pending Support Structure Minimizes Installation Time

The Monroe Environmental tube settler support structure for rectangular sedimentation basins is designed to minimize interference of structural elements with the tube settler modules. The support structure keeps structural members out of the module area. The tube settlers themselves are made of a lightweight potable grade PVC. In terms of structural support system components, Monroe offers the widest range of materials and coating systems in the industry, including mild steel, stainless steel, FRP, and thermoplastics with the best material selected depending on each specific application. Monroe's 304L stainless steel design is most common and ideally suited for use at municipal potable water treatment plants.

The unique design of the support structure connections eliminates the need for field welding and cutting when installing the Tube Settler support structure - it is a complete bolt-together assembly. The telescoping steel tubes and anchor plates easily conform to any imperfections in the sizing or shape of the settling tank. And because Monroe assembles and pre-fits the support structure in our manufacturing facility prior to shipment, all of the components go together quickly and easily on the job site, with no field engineering or fabrication required. These value-added services and superior designs offered exclusively by Monroe Environmental greatly reduce the time required by contractors to install the complete tube settler and support structure system.
